Wagon Mileage Redesign

Wagon Mileage Redesign

RailData operates the ISR system, a central platform for monitoring the position and status of freight wagons across most of Europe. In addition to its core functionality, ISR includes a mileage module that provides wagon performance data, including kilometers traveled and additional details. This year, RailData is undertaking a comprehensive redesign of its wagon mileage processing.

Currently, performance data is sourced from self-calculating Railway Undertakings (RUs) or calculated by RailData on behalf of other RUs using wagon movement information. These results are distributed to select wagon keepers, either directly to certain ISR users or via the RSRD2 system.

Upcoming Changes

The redesigned mileage process will introduce the following updates:

  • Data Integration with GCU Broker: RailData will forward wagon performance data to the GCU Broker on behalf of RUs that opt into this service. Conversely, RailData will receive performance data from the GCU Broker for wagon keepers who choose RailData as their target system for these reports.
  • Flexible Communication Options: RailData will maintain existing communication channels and offer increased flexibility in message formats.
  • Formal Agreement: RUs and wagon keepers wishing to utilize the redesigned mileage services will need to sign the new ISR-Mileage Agreement.

These enhancements will streamline data exchange and provide greater flexibility for RUs and wagon keepers. Stay tuned for further updates as RailData continues to optimize its services for the rail freight industry!
