The current Wagon Status Message (WSM), introduced in 2012, has evolved over the years with additional functions, resulting in a complex, non-object-oriented structure that includes outdated elements and lacks user-friendliness. To address new requirements and streamline operations, RailData is implementing WSM version 6.0.
Key Changes in WSM Version 6.0
- Focused Scope: Reports only wagon status, omitting extraneous information.
- Enhanced Readability: Uses clear, functional element names for improved usability.
- Minimized Attributes: Reduces the use of attributes to simplify the message structure.
- TAF Compatibility: Incorporates TrainID and supports both TAF CRD and legacy location codes.
- GPS Integration: Enables transmission of geo-positions from GPS devices.
- Streamlined Data: Excludes wagon kilometer data (use Wagon Performance Message instead) and commercial data (use ORFEUS message for consignment notes).
- Xrail Data Continuity: Retains unchanged Xrail data elements.
Implementation Timeline
WSM version 6.0 is scheduled for implementation in autumn 2020, with mapping to current event types to ensure no changes are required at the database application level. Future updates will introduce additional features, such as GPS geo-position support, and enhancements to the ISR/RTIS application.
Stay tuned for more updates as RailData continues to optimize its services for the rail industry!
